Five Dock Medical Centre

If I could give a lower rating I would waiting over an hour is pretty normal here . The receptionist told me that the doctor is usually late and that he is thorough . They do not respect their patients time. I had a 12 noon appointment during lunch and it is now 12.45 pm and I am Still airing to see the doctors . This used to be such a well run centre it’s has gone down the drain . I don’t mind paying it’s not a bulk billing centre anymore I just want my time respected

What a disgrace, love my Dr but......... the receptionist phoned me afterwards stating I'd left without paying! Terse tone and stated that I would have been told when I booked as they were now charging. No notifications were received and no comments when I made the booking! Her closing comments - "well you'll just have to pay" and hung up on me. If it was my business I certainly wouldn't be happy. Do they deserve our business - I don't think so. Would not recommend - ever.

My doctor retired and no other doctor would write a medical certificate because they don’t know me. This was an absolute waste of time. I won’t be back - if you can’t keep my records on file for another doctor (seeing as they all use the same system) I may as well go somewhere else altogether. Receptionist was very helpful and kind. I give reception 5 stars, the practice as a whole less than 0

Firstly to set context, I was late 10 mins.So my bad, However dr Ramachandran didn’t see me until 50 mins later, which made me anxious having to then be late for work. I was there for a mental health plan which usually is a long consult. I’ve never experienced a gp that lacked so much empathy especially when a patient is there for a mental illness plan. He just read out the questions lacked any emotion, which made me more anxious doing the review. It’s so hard to find gp’s that actually care. Gps need to show more care and consideration when asking questions like “are you suicidal” etc just because the government mandates it. They should be trained on emotional intelligence. Worse experience I’ve had!

I’ve been coming to Five Dock medical centre for over 5 years. Agatha and Josie and the reception staff are wonderful. Even at the most difficult time during Covid they kept it together and supported myself and my family. The doctors are all great and it’s a great vibe for care and support. You might have to wait for a bit but you are in good hands

I am happy to Recomend Five Dock Doctors Surgery to anyone living locally. Our GP of 2.5 years is very considerate and supportive of our families health needs. However, I feel that the move to being Private Surgery and how this impacts the patients care and experience needs to be considered and how the change impacts patient’s ability to pay for health care. I left today confused by what Medicare will or will not cover, what the implication of my age has on the cost and told that my Private Health insurance will not cover my GP appointments. I do not know if this is the correct information or guidance but I currently feel I am being deter from accessing health supports because of my age, health conditions and how much each appointment will cost me. I am now going to visit the Medicare and my Private Health Insurers websites to understand how these changes will impact me and my family, especially as I have a Chronic Health Condition - Diabetes Type 1.
